The 2nd Celebration of Ollie's 2nd Birthday!

We had a lot of fun with Oliver on his 2nd birthday, March 4th 2010. The start of the day was pretty slow and mostly like normal. After nap time, the fun could begin. We anxiously waited for Daddy to come home early from work to go swimming with us. Hollianne and Angela came, too. And actually, it was there idea to take Ollie swimming for his birthday. What fun aunts! We went to the Kearns Fitness Park. They have an indoor pool and we thought that they'd be more leniant about letting lap-riders go down the slide, but unfortunately they weren't. We got there, stuffed all of our belongings into one big locker, and got everyone ready to go. Ollie was so excited as he waited for the rest of us to be ready. Dexy was the last one dressed and even he was excited. And with good reason! They loved it!
They got tossed high into the air by their Daddy, played in the shallow area with all the fun water works, sat on shoulders underwater, and floated through the little lazy river. Brian even took Oliver down the slide, which he thought was totally great. But then he was told by the lifegaurd that he couldn't do that, so Ollie only got to go once and was so sad when he had to just watch as Hollianne, Anglea, and I went down the slide. We all only went once, too, so that we wouldn't make him too sad.
When the boys were both looking kind of purple, were shivering, and had the uncontrollable lip quiver going on, we pulled them out of the water and made them be finished. They probably wanted to keep playing, but were happy when we turned the warm shower on them. Then we went to the Bowles' house where Ollie got to open presents, and have fast mac 'n cheese and cake and ice cream for dinner. Grma and Grpa Bowles (Grandpa didn't get to be there, sad! He had to go to meetings before we got back from swimming. His busy life as Bishop has started) got him a Doodle Pro, his favorite flavor of Goldfish crackers and a super funny shirt (too bad the only one they had was a 4t, he'll have to wait a while to wear it). And Hollianne and Angela got him his own pair of super cool, Spiderman sunglasses, since he always wants to wear their sunglasses. He loved them and as you can see, wore them until he had to take them off to get cleaned up! He also thinks that the Doodle Pro is the bomb! He played on it with Grandma right until we told him it was time to go home, to which he said, "bo phanks, home," because he thought he had to leave the Doodle Pro there at Grandma's house. He was so excited when he told him that it was his and he could take it home with him. Then he came home happily!
I'm so happy that he had what seemed like a great birthday! His 1st birthday happened right as we were moving and I was hugely pregnant, so it was so lame and pathetic. I was sad about it for a whole year that I didn't get to make a big deal out of his 1st b-day. Now I feel much better, because we did get to do lots of great celebrating this year. Thanks to Hollianne and Angela for the great idea to go swimming and to Grandma Bowles for making him a cake and getting such cool presents. We're happy to have family to make memories with! Happy Birthday, Oliver!

Those are some very stylin' sunglasses! Swimming is a fun idea. I can't wait to take Lyric for her first time, she loves water. Glad Ollie had a good birthday!

I can't believe your boys are getting so big, It seemed like just yesterday when you knocked my socks off announcing that you were pregnant. Where is the time going!
