Fun Visit

Over fall break, Brian's parents and his sister, Angela, came down to play with us. We had a great time! They got here late on Wednesday, so the boys were already in bed. But the next day, they were up and ready to play first thing in the morning. Grandma Bowles always is so nice to bring them presents - new sunglasses, more poppers (the things you throw on the ground and they "explode"), cute new camo pants, and tons of fabulous Target dollar socks (one of my favorites, too)! We played and played for 2 days straight. We threw boxes and boxes and boxes of poppers, we took them to climb the "Dexy Rocks" (no pics, though, because I stayed here with the napping Dexy), went to the splashpad, and to Jumpin' Jacks. It was great fun! We must have worn ourselves out, though, because we all zonked on the couch the afternoon before they left. We roused ourselves for one last fun outing before they headed back up North - a delicious early dinner at Chuck-a-Rama! Thanks for the fantastic visit!

Ollie's Jump

OK. Since everyone said that they'd be nervous to watch Ollie leap off a cliff, I decided to post the video. It is kind of nerve-racking, but at this point, I've gotten use to it. Now, don't pee your pants when you watch this - Brian catches him, so no worries. :) Ollie loved it and wanted to do it again and again and again!

A Beautiful Saturday Morning

This morning when we woke up, our house was a total mess! So, I crankely forced everyone to help me clean. I wasn't going to do it all by myself when I didn't make the mess all by myself. But, once the house was at least cleaner, we got out as a family to enjoy this beautiful St. George fall weather. The boys love tp go up to the bluffs to climb the "Dexy Rocks," as Ollie calls them. Daddy told him one time that the words on the rock said dixie and when Ollie said, "Dexy?" his Daddy just said, "sure." So, now he's convinced that they are the "Dexy Rocks." Anyway.

We drove up to Pioneer Park and started climbing all over the red rocks. The weather was fabulous and it was so nice to be out enjoying it as a family. The boys do such a good job of climbing even as toddlers. They are awesome! They scaled rocks...

...tromped down paths, over hills, and through bushes. A lot of times, they even wanted to do it all by themselves.

One of Ollie's favorite things, dangerous child that he is, is to have Daddy put him up on a high rock so that he can jump off! He is so brave and has such trust in Brian! We had a terrific morning - everyone up and help clean as we work together, then everyone out to have fun as we play together!

Painted Halloween Pumpkins

Since our boys are still just toddlers, I decided that painting pumpkins would be much better than carving them with sharp knives. They were actually able to help this way. They did a great job and had a good time painting. I was so well pleased in our fun, crafty Family Home Evening. Dexy kept pointing to whatever color he wanted next.

Here's Ollie painting what he said was a green, happy horse.

Dexy used his yellow paint to make a swoopy shape that he then quacked at - he'd painted a duck! Then he painted over it and everything else. It just turned into a big, dark green blob, but it was still so cute to see if actually painting.

When they were all painted out and all painted on, they went upstairs with Brian to start bathtime while I added the finishing touches to their beautiful masterpieces.

Our pumpkins turned out really cute (Ollie wanted, and I quote, "2 happy ghosts" on his so that's what I painted and then I just turned Dexy's big, white blob into a ghost, too). We had such a fun, family time. We're getting really excited for Halloween!

Like I Said, They Think Boxes are the Best!!

"Where's Ollie?" "There he is. Inside the box!"

"Baaa," that's Dexese for bye.

What a great, cheap toy!

All it costs us is the price of the diapers and we need those anyway.

I Can't Wait Another Second for Breakfast!

A few mornings ago, I heard the boys awake, so I went up and got them out of their room and got them juice like usual.

They looked so cute in their jammies this morning and seemed content, so I went to go make them eggs for breakfast. They were happy until the eggs were almost finished. They came into the kitchen and started getting spoons out of the drawer. They often do that when they're hungry, so I didn't think much of it. But when I turned to grab the cheese from the fridge to add into the eggs that were a minute away from completion, this is what I found...

...the boys helping themselves to a carton of ice cream!!

Our freezer is on the bottom, so they had pulled the ice cream out and Ollie had opened it for them. I kept telling them that breakfast was almost ready, but I guess that they just couldn't wait any longer. I scooped them each up a bowl of scrambled eggs and removed the ice cream.

They both then ate their whole bowl of eggs. So, they had had some ice cream for breakfast, but they ate all of their healthy breakfast, too. And, at least they were sharing! :)

Ollie's Song

Ollie loves to sing. And sometimes, he even makes up his own songs. He'll do this for several minutes. We just love the stuff he comes up with. This is a long video, but stick it out - it's funny!

Boxes Are Our Favorite

My boys loved playing in boxes. I guess it's because they can be anything. Ollie dumped all of these clothes out of this fairly small box so that he could climb into it.

Then, Dexy had to stuff himself in the box, too. They had a great time for a few minutes before..

... you guessed it; Ollie fell out of the back of the now suddenly broken box!

That's ok. Daddy is fun to play with, too!
Side note: Dexy's hair makes him look like an eighties punk rocker in this picture, but it's still cute!
